The mission of Living Church Ministries is to touch every individual with the Word of God. We will reach the total man first by ministering to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs. Living Church Ministries will then reach the family, the city, the state, the nation, and the world.
Demetrics and Pauline Roscoe founded Living Church Ministries in May 1980 after laboring before the Lord and receiving God's divine instructions. The vision of establishing and providing a responsible and effective Christian outreach center was birthed. They began with a small congregation of eight in their home and as the congregation grew, they moved into a building on Tuscaloosa Avenue in Birmingham, Alabama.
During the early years of the ministry, this committed group of believers moved from the western section of Birmingham and preached the gospel in the Bessemer Community Center. Having a burden for the inner city, Pastor Roscoe moved the ministry back to Birmingham and began having services at Quality Inn on Oxmoor Road. After strong evangelism in the area, an explosion of growth caused Living Church Ministries to move into a larger building on 31st Street North. It was here our first ministerial staff was ordained. It was also here that Pastors Roscoe trained ministers for overseas mission with doors opened to go into over ten countries. In December of 1989, Living Church Ministries purchased the church presently located at 401 Omega Street on the Southside of Birmingham.
Because of the sincere desire to minister to the unchurched, evangelism has become a major focus of the ministry. Living Church Ministries is actively involved in the community, outreach groups, door-to-door evangelism, provision of food and other resources to the needy. The Outreach Breakfast is served monthly from January to October and our Annual Superbowl Fellowship is geared to ministering to the homeless and unchurched. The ministry's teaching, music, evangelism, radio programs, and outreach ministries affect people locally and throughout the world. Pastors Roscoe have ministered in China, Korea, Jamaica, Mexico, Philippines, Nigeria, Sicily, Italy, Pakistan, and Kenya with thousands coming to know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.
Living Church Ministries can be seen and heard through the television broadcast each Sunday at 12 o’clock noon on Birmingham Cable Television, Sunday School Review, Women of Glory, and Innerlife Radio Broadcast on WAYE 1220AM Radio Station. Living Church Ministries has hosted numerous concerts, camp meetings and retreats with national as well as international speakers and psalmists.
The Senior Pastors and Living Church Ministries believe that their supreme responsibility is to fulfill the Great Commission of the Lord, to evangelize the world in the power of the Holy Spirit and lead a sincere group of people that exhibit the true aspect of a "living church".
